Ingredients

For the Brownies
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar packed
  • ½ cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 large Eggs room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tablespoon Orange Zest freshly grated
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour sifted
  • ½ teaspoon Baking Powder
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt
  • ½ cup White Chocolate Chips optional
For the Glaze
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar sifted
  • 2 tablespoons Orange Juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 teaspoon Orange Zest for garnish

Method

Prepare the Brownie Batter
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures that the brownies bake evenly.
  2. Line a 9x9-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal later.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Whisk until well combined and smooth.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition. This helps to incorporate air into the batter, making the brownies light and chewy.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract and orange zest, mixing until evenly distributed.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together the sifted flour, baking powder, and salt.
  7. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture using a rubber spatula. Be careful not to overmix; stop as soon as you see no dry flour.
  8. If using, gently fold in the white chocolate chips for added sweetness and texture.
Bake the Brownies
  1. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly with the spatula.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. This ensures the brownies are fudgy but not undercooked.
  3. Once baked, remove the pan from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
Prepare the Glaze
  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and orange juice until smooth. This will create a simple glaze that adds sweetness and a citrusy kick.
  2. Once the brownies are completely cooled, drizzle the glaze over the top. Use a spatula to spread it evenly if desired.
  3. Sprinkle additional orange zest on top for garnish and added flavor.
Serve
  1. Cut the brownies into squares and serve. Enjoy the chewy texture and bright orange flavor!
