How to Make Breakfast Grilled Cheese
  1. Begin by heating a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  2. Generously butter one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Place the first slice of bread in the skillet, butter-side down.
  4. Crack the egg directly onto the bread and cook until the egg white is mostly set.
  5. Carefully place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of the egg.
  6. Add bacon or ham if using, then place the second slice of bread butter-side up on top.
  7. Grill the sandwich for about 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Flip the sandwich and grill the other side for an additional 3-4 minutes.
  9. Remove the sandwich, slice in half, and serve hot.
