Cupcake Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake tin with festive liners.
- Whisk together in a large bowl the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Beat the eggs with the buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract in another bowl until frothy.
- Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
- Fill cupcake liners two-thirds full with batter and bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool the cupcakes completely before frosting and swirl on your favorite peppermint frosting, then sprinkle crushed candy canes on top.
