- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease your baking dish.
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and sauté the thinly sliced yellow onions until golden brown, about 15-20 minutes.
- Push the onions to the side, add the lean ground beef, and cook until browned, about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, dried thyme, and beef broth, then let simmer for 5 minutes.
- Layer half of the toasted baguette slices in the baking dish, add half of the beef mixture, and half of the grated cheese. Repeat layers.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil for the last 5 minutes to let the cheese bubble and brown.
