Equipment

Method

Cooking Steps
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or turkey until it’s browned and crumbly. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Sauté the onion and garlic in the skillet for 3-4 minutes until the onion is soft and translucent.
  3. Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  4. Preheat your oven to 375°F. Spread the butter on one side of each slice of bread and place them buttered-side down on a baking sheet.
  5. Spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto each slice of bread, then top with shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese.
  6. Bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Broil for 1-2 minutes for a crispy top.
  7. Remove from the oven, garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired, slice each melt, and serve warm.
