How to Make Juicy Turkey Brine
- In a large pot, bring 1 gallon of water, kosher salt, brown sugar, black peppercorns, garlic, onion, citrus slices, and herbs to a boil. Stir until everything is dissolved and fragrant, taking about 5-10 minutes.
- Once boiling, allow the brine to cool completely; you can speed this up by adding 1 gallon of cold water or ice.
- Using a brining bag, bucket, or cooler, carefully submerge the thawed turkey in the brine, ensuring every part is covered.
- Refrigerate or keep the cooler at a safe temperature for 12 to 24 hours.
- After brining, remove the turkey and rinse it well under cold water. Pat it dry thoroughly.
- Roast your turkey using your preferred method without adding more salt.
- Allow the turkey to rest for 20–30 minutes after roasting.
