- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Lay 4 strips of thick-cut bacon in the pan without overlapping. Cook for 6–8 minutes, flipping occasionally, until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Toast 3 slices of bread until golden and crispy using a toaster or pan-fryer with a little butter or bacon fat for extra flavor.
- In a small bowl, mix 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise with 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard until well combined. Set aside.
- Slice the ripe tomato and sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper to enhance its natural sweetness.
- Place one slice of toasted bread on a work surface. Spread a layer of the mayo-mustard mixture, then layer on turkey, lettuce, and tomato.
- Add the second slice of toasted bread on top. Spread more mayo mixture, then pile on ham (if using), crispy bacon, and cheese.
- Place the final slice of toasted bread on top. Optionally spread any remaining mayo mixture for extra flavor.
