Ingredients

For the Watermelon Fries
  • 1 medium seedless watermelon Choose a ripe watermelon for sweetness.
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice Freshly squeezed for best flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon honey Optional, adjust based on sweetness preference.
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt Enhances the sweetness of the watermelon.
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper Optional, for a spicy kick.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh mint leaves Chopped, for garnish.

Method

Prepare the Watermelon
  1. Cut the watermelon in half lengthwise. Use a sharp knife to ensure clean cuts.
  2. Scoop out the flesh of the watermelon from one half, leaving about 1 inch of rind. This will create a 'boat' for serving.
  3. Slice the watermelon flesh into fry-shaped sticks, approximately ½ inch thick. This shape mimics traditional fries and makes them easy to eat.
Season the Watermelon Fries
  1. In a small bowl, mix the lime juice, honey (if using), sea salt, and cayenne pepper (if using) until well combined. This will create a flavorful drizzle.
  2. Drizzle the mixture over the watermelon fries, ensuring they are evenly coated. Toss gently to avoid breaking the fries.
Serve
  1. Transfer the seasoned watermelon fries to the prepared watermelon boat or a serving platter.
  2. Garnish with chopped fresh mint leaves for a refreshing touch.
  3. Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

These watermelon fries are best enjoyed fresh. If you want to prepare them in advance, keep the watermelon slices in an airtight container in the refrigerator, and add the seasoning just before serving.
